Method to change the position of LED lights of Phantom 4

1. Reference video

First please watch the following video to get an idea of the overall process. The time required to change the LED light position is around 6 hours.

2. Removeing the gimbal camera part

1) Remove the battery.

2) Remove the screws from the gimbal camera part.

3) Remove in the same way.

4) Open like this.

5) It should look like this from the back.

6) First remove the screws from this part as in 7). The photo shows Phantom 4 Pro. Phantom 4 is slightly different.

7) It looks like this when removed.

8) Remove the circuit connection piece.

9) Remove the screw from the white part.

10) Lift up the metal part to modify it.

11) Next remove the left part as in 12).

12) It looks like this when removed.

13) Remove the 4 cords. Remember the colors.

14) Lift up the metal part to modify it.

15) It looks like this when modified.

16) Remove the screw from the white part.

17) It looks like this when removed.

3. Removing the screws from the lower cover and below the motor

1) Remove the plastic from the propeller guard installation opening. Apply force from the lower cover towards the upper cover to remove it.

2) Remove the round plastic from below the motor. Use a flathead screwdriver, etc. to apply pressure from top to bottom as in the photo to remove the plastic.

3) Peel off the sheet.

4) Using a flathead screwdriver, etc., apply pressure from top to bottom to easily remove the sheet.

5) 3 screws directly connected to the motor will become visible.

6) The motor will move around when you remove the directly connected screws, so remove this screw first. There are 4 locations.

7) Remove this screw in the same way. There are 4 locations.

8) Finally, remove the screws directly connected to the motor. Now the upper and lower covers can be removed.

4. Removing the upper and lower covers

1) This is the most difficult task. This is because the upper and lower covers are connected in 5 places with claw-like fasteners. There is 1 claw in the front and 1 each on the right and left, and there are 2 claws in the back. First we will open the front. Open a little at a time starting near the motor, and use a tool to keep the gap open.

2) The same thing here.

3) For Phantom 4 Pro: The front claw alone is made to come off when you press the bottom cover and pull the top cover. Push the bottom cover with your fingers, and use a flathead screwdriver or other tool to pull the top cover and remove the claw.

For Phantom 4: The front, left, right, and back claws are all made to come off when the bottom cover is pushed and the top cover is pulled. Push the bottom cover with your fingers, and use a flathead screwdriver or other tool to pull the top cover and remove the claw.

4) For Phantom 4 Pro: The remaining left, right, and back claws are made to come off when the top cover is pushed and the bottom cover is pulled. To removed the right and left claws, use your fingers to push the top cover and use a flathead screwdriver or other tool to pull the bottom cover.

For Phantom 4: To remove the right and left claws, push the bottom cover with your fingers while using a flathead screwdriver or other tool to pull the top cover and remove the claws. (The photo is different.)

5) For Phantom 4 Pro: To remove the right and left claws, push the top cover with your fingers and use a flathead screwdriver or other tool to pull the bottom cover.

For Phantom 4: To remove the right and left claws, push the bottom cover with your fingers and use a flathead screwdriver or other tool to pull the top cover. (The photo is different.)

6) For Phantom 4 Pro: To remove the back left claw, push the top cover with your fingers and use a flathead screwdriver, etc. to pull the bottom cover.

For Phantom 4: To remove the back left claw, push the bottom cover with your fingers and use a flathead screwdriver, etc. to pull the bottom cover. (The photo is different.)

7) For Phantom 4 Pro: In the same way, to remove the back right claw, push the top cover with your fingers and use a flathead screwdriver, etc. to pull the bottom cover.

For Phantom 4: In the same way, to remove the back right claw, push the bottom cover with your fingers and use a flathead screwdriver, etc. to pull the top cover. (The photo is different.)

8) The top and bottom covers have been removed.

9) However, to remove the top and bottom covers completely, the white circuit connection pieces on the left and right of the front part must be removed. Removing the circuit connection pieces is troublesome, and since it is possible to change the LED light position with this much of an opening between the top and bottom covers, we will leave it as is.

5. Changing the LED light position

1) Remove this LED light.

2) To remove it, use a flathead screwdriver, etc. to apply force from top to bottom as in the photo.

3) It has been removed.

4) Move the LED light to the center of the arm.

5) Fix it in place with insulating tape.

6) A total of 4 locations have been fixed in place. Now we have finished changing the LED light positions.

7) Now do the previous steps backwards to make everything as it was before. However, the round plastic below the motor and the sheet in the middle should be left off. This is because the T-shaped connection axis for the rotation ball guard will be attached here.

8) After this process, the LED lights will come on in these locations.
